The latest set of education results this week showed that the crisis in boys education continues apace.
The SATS results show that in English, Reading and Writing, 14 and 11 year old boys are a long way behind girls.
More than a third of 14 year-old boys have a reading age below 11 years of age (link) supposedly 10,000 boys had a reading age at 14 that was lower than when they went to school at 11.
The feminisation of education is destroying boys in our country (link) and the Government and the education establishment do nothing about it.
I recently applied to 5 schools in my area to offer free voluntary work. I found out that my local school and others in my area are entirely manned by females. I asked why I would want to volunteer(I had previously taught abroad) they looked at me as if I were something on the bottom of a shoe. They then told me that they couldn't offer me any hours. I have had a full enhanced check and I feel that men are now demonized in schools. I think the LEA's should be forced to have at least 25% male teaching staff(voluntary or not)
I volunteered my time so that I can do my PGCE alas without first hand experience in a British school I will be looked over.
