Mayor of London, Red Ken Livingstone, has blocked the appointment of nine white men because they are "unrepresentative" of London. See full story in the Daily Mail (link).
When appointments to the London Fire Authority were put forward by political parties, he blocked these men not because they were not qualified for their job. No, he banned them because of their gender.
Red Ken, is one of the UK's leading exponents of Political Correctness, where gender, race and your membership of a victim group is more important than your ability. Men come last everytime in the victim group hierachy.
This is going to the High Court and he must lose. No word from the 'Equal' Opportunities Commission of course.
UPDATE
Livingstone relents temporarily until the end of August (link) before a legal case was brought. However he replaced a man with a woman from the Conservative nominations. It makes no difference, he is still acting in a sexist fashion because he is questioning the gender balance not on ability but on ticking boxes. If there were more women than men, he would not be looking to make any changes.
Liberty and Law was concerned about the mayor's action and asked both the Equal Opportunities Commission and Commission for Racial Equality to investigate.
The EOC has responded quickly and now wish to contact the CRE.
Our request for an investigation will be referred to the next meeting of the EOC's Legal Committee on the 11th July.

So... when there is a damn big fire in London, and the fire brigade is called out to put the fire to an end... Will Mr. livingstone demand that x-white firemen go, along with y-female and z-none-white-males?
