SELECT COMMITTEE TOMORROW

Just a reminder from last week - Mike Buchanan, Dr Catherine Hakim and Steve Moxon are at the Business, Innovation and Skills select committee on Tuesday at 9.30am. It is about women in the workplace but from a male equality perspective, these three will argue against measures that discriminate against men.

For those unable to make it, you may be able to watch it live in Parliament TV or even the Parliament Channel will cover it.

We wish them all good luck and for once, Parliament is prepared to listen to those who don't believe in discrimination against men.

Thank you Mike for your candid blog. You are good enough to identify a common feminist device to mis direct discussion onto controversial and complex ground. The power of preference theory and taking an equity approach is that both sidestep the complex reasons people may make choices or the fact these may result in differential outcomes. Very complexity of the centuries old nature nurture debate indicates both it's complexity but also the tendency to apply belief rather than reason to it. So long as people have equity in choices and their choices are freely made then the subtle interactions of biology and socialisation are irrelevant , unless one controls outcomes . And of course the latter implies comtrolling choices and inequity. As always a thoughtful and illuminating post. http://fightingfeminism.wordpress.com/
