Families Need Fathers produced a first rate piece of research this week entitled "The Law, Justice and You!". The press release is here (link) and the full report here (link).
It clearly shows that the family court system, as it says on the press release, is failing those it aims to serve.
The delays are scary and atrocious but what is even worse is the appalling ratings for those supposedly involved in the justice system who are meant to be independent and act in the best interests of the child. It shows how the British rule of law is crumbling and confidence of a fair hearing is non existent.
- 50% of judges are rated as poor;
- 64% of CAFCASS officers are rated as poor (2 in 3);
- 66% of lawyers are rated as poor.
It is a shocking state of affairs and the general awfulness of the unaccountable people in the ultra secretive CAFCASS is once again exposed.
The law clearly needs changing and the courts opened up to scrutiny. Where there is an unaccountable silence, there is injustice.
There is injustice in the family courts, and I know from my own experience of the family courts. What also hurts is that organisations, such as Oxfam which claims to work on "gender issues" in the UK and abroad, has senior managers such as the Labour Councillor Antonia Bance (Oxfam's head of campaigns on UK poverty and social exclusion issues) who recently wrote on her Blog: "the fathers’ rights movement are mainly misogynists".

How dare Antonia Bance write that the fathers' rights movement are mainly misogynists. And it is shameful that Oxfam should allow a senior manager publicly to express such blinkered and ignorant views. Antonia Bance is a woman who obviously can't stand men, which may explain why she works for an organisation that has increasingly become anti-male. I hear that Oxfam is run by white, middle-class woman, all English and who believe that the solution to poverty is more child-care!

Yes. You have my sympathy, and empathy. Life isn't fair and we in the UK are an extremely backward country when it comes to child care....that's why there are so many problems with society and so many people in jail. This is why a father kills himself and his two children because he can't cope with all the abuse and disapproval that is at the heart of our attitude towards fathers in the family. The main culprits being Social Services and The Family Courts. It doesn't help when the media (Daily Mirror) portrays the man who has taken his life and those of his children as evil. This lack of understanding for the desperately unsupported fathers in todays society seems endemic throughout the media........I sincerely hope the man or woman who wrote the article in the "Mirror" doesn't get hitched with the opposite sex and then have his partner beat his children up ..........if he has a heart he might lose it...if he has a brain he might be stunned....if he still thinks it's worth living then let me know.....Mr Super research journalist (I am being sarcastic here)
