GOVERNMENT CONTINUES ITS CAMPAIGN OF IGNORING MALE VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC ABUSE

The UK Government announced (link) last week that it was introducing a further 18 specialist domestic violence courts into the UK.

However, as the court system is supposedly meant to be gender neutral, one would think that the Government's announcement would also be gender-neutral especially as two in every five victims, according to the Government's own figures (link), are male. Such naivety.

Firstly, spot the picture of a woman, no picture of a male victim.

Also note the comments by Home Office Minister Alan Campbell and Baroness Scotland, they are clearly only aimed at female victims.

Baroness Scotland says "'Improving the safety of women experiencing domestic violence and the support that they are given is a key priority for the government." It should say "improving the safety of women and men experiencing domestic violence."

Just another example of the ongoing bias of the present Government who continue to ignore male victims of domestic violence.

WHEN WILL THE GOVERNMENT CHANGE LAW TO STOP MEN BEING NAMED AND SHAMED UNTIL FOUND GUILTY

The case last week where Peter Bacon was acquitted of rape (link, link, link) continues to highlight the problem faced by men who are falsely accused. It means that whilst he was innocent, the stigma of his name being made public means he will never escape from it, it is on the Internet forever.

As he said himself, his name has been dragged through the mud and he questioned why his alleged ‘victim’ received automatic lifelong anonymity, while he was named as an accused rapist.

In a statement read by his solicitor, he said: ‘This case seriously calls into question the lack of anonymity for people like Peter who have been wrongfully accused of rape, and who are ultimately acquitted.

Whilst there is the issue about the false accusation itself, at least a dozen years after the issue was raised nothing still has been done on securing the anonymity of the accused. Rightly, the accuser should not be named before the jury's decision but the accused should not be either. If he is found guilty then rightly he should then be named but he is not guilty as the systme stands an innocent man's reputation is ruined.

The Government simply do not seem interested in bringing in this change which suggests they are happy for innocent men to be named and shamed forever. This blatantly unfair and wrong law should not continue.

WHY ERITH AND THAMESMEAD MEN SHOULD NOT VOTE LABOUR

Previous posts (link, link, link and link)  have highlighted how the UK Labour Party are, by using all-women shortlists, banning men from being able to satnd a Labour candidates in key Parliamentary seats at the the next General Election.

Now the same is happening in Erith and Thamesmead in South East London and whilst there has been much commentary (link, link, link) on the backstabbing and arguing about the merits of particular candidates, none of the articles actually dwell on the issue that all-women shortlists are sexist and deny men the political franchise. This sexism is just now accepted as normal by the media.

The inclusion of Erith and Thamesmead in Labour's Hall of Shame means that at the next General Election, men will have been banned from standing as Labour candidates in 31 seats.

No man in any of these constituencies should vote Labour

BEN BRADSHAW, LABOUR HEALTH MINISTER, PROVES NHS DOES NOT CATER FOR MEN

In a previous post it was mentioned that you should not make jokes about politicians because too many get elected. A particularly sick joke can be made about the comments made by Ben Bradshaw MP, Labour Health Minister, who claimed that there was a health bonus in higher unemployment rates because it would mean that more men would see their doctor, because they had the time.

There has been much commentary in the UK media on this, rightly so (Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph, The Sun, The Express). However, it misses one crucial point, it proves the National Health Service adequately cater for men.

Everyone in the UK is forced to pay taxes for the health service and therefore the health service should be available for everyone, man or woman, when they need it at a time that suits them.

What Ben Bradshaw is effectively admitting is that the health service and GP surgery opening hours are not suitable for the working man because he cannot get a 'heath check' because he is too busy earning his and his families' upkeep. This is because the health service and GP opening hours are based around what suits them and not their paying customers who are forced to pay the taxes. This is wrong.

What Bradshaw should be saying, and of course he won't as he is a member of the most anti-male Government in the history of the United Kingdom, is that the opening hours of GP surgeries and other parts of the health service, should change or be modified to fit around the working lives of men.

He has it the wrong the way round and health checks should be made available for men all week round. But that would mean equality.

CRISIS IN BOYS EDUCATION - LACK OF MALE TEACHERS AT PRIMARY SCHOOL

The UK Government's Training and Development Agency (link) has revealed that more than a quarter of England's primary schools (5 to 11 year olds) have no male teacher (4,587) and in eight counties, there are more than 100 primary schools with no male teacher. Teacher colleges still are admitting three women for each man.

This is of real concern and is partly down to men being demonised as some parents think there is something odd or sinister (link) about a male primary school teacher. In addition, with so many boys living in households with no father or male role model, they are not receiving the discipline, empathy or male role model they need. This then feeds through into discipline problems and also poor results as boys specifically need challenge and discipline which male teachers can often be the best to instill.

This has been a regular theme on the site (link, link) and is a clear reason why there is a crisis in the education of boys in the UK. When will the Government and local eductaion authorities take some real action on this or are they happy for it to continue?

BANK HOLIDAY TO CELEBRATE WOMEN - NO MENTION OF MEN

An old saying is that the reason you shouldn't make jokes about politicians is because too many get elected. 

A case in point can be made about Welsh MP Julie Morgan (link) who has called (link and link) for a bank holiday to celebrate International Women's Day (8th March). She believes the Government should acknowledge the work and contribution of women.

The contention of course is not so much that there shouldn't be a bank holiday to celebrate the contribution of women, but that there is no mention of a reciprocal arrangement to acknowledge the work and contribution of men.

No male (or female) politician though would dare challenge her and make such an announcement partly because they would be scared of the 'backlash' and be treated with disdain but also because men don't feel that they need any extra praise for the work and contribution they make. They just make the contribution because innately that is what men do.

If the suggestion by Julie Morgan MP gains momentum, which it could because her husband is Rhodri Morgan (The Welsh First Minister in their Assembly) then Welsh men and politicians need to make that challenge.

PROSTATE CANCER BREAKTHROUGH - GOVERNMENT MUST DELIVER

The Daily Telegraph reported (link and link) yesterday that all men over the age of 50 could be tested for prostate cancer, the disease that kills 10,000 men per year (with 35,000 per year suffering). This was an international study that suggested screening could save thousand of lives.

The excellent Prostate Cancer Charity has had much to say (link, link and link).

To be fair, there were warm noises by the Government. They announced they will formally ask the UK National Screening Committee to review the evidence and the Chief Medical Officer has contacted all GP’s in England.

They cannot dare delay because they don't delay elsewhere as can be seen by the sad case involving Jade Goody where they are looking into reviewing the age for routine screening for cervical cancer.

That is correct of course, but the Government cannot delay in seriously studying the breakthrough on men.

Men (and their mothers, wives, daughters and sisters) will not accept any obfuscation or penny pinching.

GOOD SCHOOLS GUIDE RESEARCH ON SINGLE-SEX GIRLS SCHOOLS IGNORES THOSE WHO NEED THE HELP THE MOST

The Guardian reported on its front page yesterday (link) that research on behalf of the Good Schools Guide (link) had revealed that "girls are far more likely to thrive, get GCSEs and stay in education if they go to a single-sex school, according to new research, which reveals pupils who are struggling academically when they start secondary school reap the biggest rewards of girls-only schooling."

Nothing wrong with this per se especially as this site has long been an advocate of single-sex education to help reduce the effects of the feminisation of education that has destroyed the schooling and opportunities of at least two generations of boys (number of articles in education section).

But the key issue is that, relatively speaking, this research is actually just pandering to the usual sexism and lack of interest in the educational needs of boys.

This is because if the Good Schools Guide really wanted to be useful and help the debate on what school structures help pupils achieve the best results, instead of studying girls,the study would have been about boys (or both sexes).

It is boys who are five to seven years behind girls at GCSE level.

It is boys who go to university in far fewer numbers than girls.

It is boys who need the discipline of a single-sex school.

Unfortunately, the Good Schools Guide has produced research which whilst pandering to the Guardian (who are hardly going to write a pro-male/boys story), systematically fails to say anything of use. If they had conducted the research for boys (or both sexes), that would have been of use.

In the end it is just a PR stunt with no value except for highlighting that the under-performance of boys is deemed unimportant, even though they are the ones most in need of help.

EQUALITIES COMMISSION WILL NOT GIVE UP PEDDLING GENDER PAY GAP MYTHS

If you keep telling the same untruth long enough and it is not adequately challenged, then it becomes a fact. This can easily be applied to one of the key battlefronts opened up against men, the gender pay gap.

The Equalities and Human Rights Commission has called for the repeal of the 1975 Equal Pay Act because it is not 'fit for purpose' (link).

What the Commission really means is that because the 17% Gender PayGap can easily be proven to be about lifestyle choice (see previous links here and here) and not sexual discrimination, as the Commission and the anti-male industry proclaim, it is time to rip up laws and invent new ones to 'prove' it is because of sexual discrimination. All on the taxpayer of course, as the Commission is made from the public purse.

What makes the situation worse is the clear spin from Nicola Brewer, the Chief Executive of the Commission.

She quotes the overall figure of 17.1% and the part-time figure of 36.6% yet single women, as they get older, earn more than single men. Or that, Black Caribbean women earn more than their male equivalent. No mention of the granularity in the statistics.

The Commission has launched this on the back of the forthcoming Equalities Bill which will entrench firmly into law, that it is Ok for men to be discriminated against and the Commission which is meant to be about equality is firmly on board.
